Dear Sherene, We are indeed saddened by the news that Mark has entered heaven. He has many relatives there, my Mom, Phyllis Hess passed away on July 8th, 2013, and she was really looking forward to meeting with a long list of relatives and friends who preceded her in heaven. I fondly remember my cousin Mark as we both grew up on farms and shared fall butchering and silo filing duties with youthful fun and passion. We always enjoyed the family times together, especially the meals where the grandparents tried to out do each other with their special dishes. Blessings. Tom and Donna McWilliams

What I always enjoyed about Mark was his enthusiasm for coaching but especially for kids. He had a heart for working with young athletes and from my vantage point, he did that extremely well. My prayer is that the goodness he expressed as a coach, father and husband goes far out into eternity being lived through the people he touched during his life. May God bring comfort to those who are missing him dearly.

I enjoyed talking with Mark often this summer at Mack Pool. It was the first time I had the opportunity to get to know him, although I had met him at the Junior High Open House a year ago and he knew me as "Haley's mom." He was a gentle, caring, happy, and friendly person. I greatly admire his work with the Indiana swimmers. I can imagine what a great dad and husband he must have been, too. My thoughts and meditations are with you, Sherene, and your sons. He lives on in each of you.
